Arizona Solar Organizations > Greater Tucson Coalition for Solar Energy - Functions

GTCSE Functions

The non-profit purposes for which this organization has been formed are as follows:

  • To increase the application of solar energy practices through education and training to end-users and suppliers of solar devices.
  • To provide a means whereby users of solar devices and services, and their suppliers can exchange information, experience, and concepts to the mutual benefit of the individual members and the Tucson metropolitan area. The primary focus of the organization in the medium term (2000-2003) is the inclusion of solar devices in the urban Tucson metropolitan area. Secondary focus is on smaller, rural communities in the greater metropolitan area.
  • To encourage the coordination of energy efficiency practices and the use of the Sustainable Energy Standard, in the context of solar energy practices, throughout the community.
  • To investigate and evaluate new solar programs and technologies to increase the energy self-sufficiency of our community and its general welfare.
  • To pursue funding opportunities and investments which accelerate the deployment of solar devices.
  • To actively promote, support, and encourage the maintenance and development of a vigorous, viable, and dynamic solar energy capability to meet the needs of our community.

To these ends, the Coalition proposes to "conduct meetings; to publish articles and other materials; to cooperate with other organizations interested in the advancement of solar practices; to support the development of high professional standards; to generate funding and, in general, to promote the growth of solar energy and to improve practice throughout the region."
